Groups within Yorkshire Branch
Yorkshire is the largest county in England and we believe our Branch of the Society has the largest membership.
Last year, 299 subscribing members of the society had addresses within our county boundaries and, in addition, a further 43 members from outside Yorkshire subscribed to our Branch magazine, "Blanc Sanglier".
The geographical size of our county makes it impossible for all members to have regular opportunities to meet and discuss matters-Ricardian together and so we have formed individual Groups within the Branch, giving individual members a better opportunity to meet their fellows.
Currently, we have three groups :
AIREDALE AND LEEDS GROUP is based in the valley of Yorkshire's fifth tributary of the Ouse, the River Aire, and covers the area between Skipton - where lies the Aire Gap, historic passage-way into Lancashire - and Leeds. One of the most active Groups within the Society, Airedale's meetings and activities are listed within this site. The Yorkshire Branch Library [the Dorothy Appleyard Library] is located within this Group and, after the Parent Branch, is probably the largest and best used of all in the Society. Branch members are welcome to make free use of this facility.
SHEFFIELD GROUP is based in the famous steel-producing city of South Yorkshire and has regular meetings to discuss Ricardian and associated subjects.
SCARBOROUGH GROUP is based in the famous seaside town on Yorkshire's east coast, with its Castle and its associations with Richard, this Group covers all the coastal areas of our county.
We should be glad to supply details of contacts within each Group to interested visitors. With membership growing steadily within the Branch, we expect to form new Groups progressively, and details of these will be published in this site as and when necessary.
